For twenty-five years, CityWorks has created a track record of delivering high quality, strategic, legacy and change making services to its clients and communities in ways that are equitable, sustainable and leverage human-focused innovations. We have built a reputation for making good on our promise of delivering thoughtful and innovative services tailored to the needs of each project or program.

Founded in 1999, by two UC Berkeley grads, one a licensed architect and the other a public involvement practitioner, CityWorks’ provides a one stop shop for clients, including large A/E firms that benefit from the firm’s integrated set of design and engagement services. The firm is a Caltrans certified DBE and City of San Diego, SLBE.

Our mission is to make cities, towns and neighborhoods more equitable, sustainable and technologically innovative. We do so through the efforts of our multidisciplinary team of architects, planners and engagement practitioners by engaging clients and community members as we design and implement projects and programs that improve transportation, land use, water and energy systems. By blending design and engagement services, our team is better able to deliver projects that maintain a high degree of design and technical quality and are further improved by community and end user input. Our team’s intentional design of the input process results in projects and programs that are not only supported by the community but also elicit a sense of civic pride and ownership.

Headquartered out of downtown San Diego, the firm has built a solid reputation for exceptional work quality, strategic services delivery and trusted relationships with jurisdictional clients such as MPO’s, cities, counties, airports and transit agencies, as well as higher education, private sector, non-profit, and energy utility clients. The firm’s service area includes Southern California, and it is expanding services to the San Francisco/Bay Area.
