GOING COASTAL

Encinitas’ coastal route was full of cute shops and local eateries but it wasn’t enough to get motorists or locals to stop, shop and dine. The roar of drive-through traffic ruined the ambiance. That all changed when our team designed a new streetscape with trees and lights, street furnishings, end block pop-outs, mid-block pop-outs with seating and reconfigured traffic lanes. Now, the roar of traffic has been replaced by the pleasant sounds of friendly conversations and clinking wine glasses.
