Architectural Services

Making buildings and spaces in a city work is not just in our name, it is our passion. Our architectural and urban planning team focuses on placemaking that is functional, beautiful and authentic to its place and time. This focus is enriched by integrating our client’s goals, end-user needs and community input into project designs. This input is facilitated by our team of public participation practitioners. Whether it is our client’s internal staff, jurisdictional leaders or community stakeholders, our multi-disciplinary team is ready to gain their trust in the design process and integrate their ideas into design work. The result is better designed projects that more easily transition into implementation and avoid costly delays caused by community opposition.

Our team’s expertise is to design places people want to be, enlivening cities, towns and campuses. We activate these areas with civic uses: transportation facilities, museums, and recreational centers; and commercial uses: retail, restaurant and office. Often our architectural services follow on from our planning projects, enabling clients and communities to further realize the vision they worked together to define.

Led by our Principal Architect and Planner, Laura Warner, our goal is to design places that are easy for all to use, contribute to a sense of well-being, compliment the context, are aesthetically pleasing, and elicit a sense of civic pride. She has led our team for legacy projects such as the Pure Water Advanced Water Treatment Plant, that will increase local water sources in San Diego by 30%; and the urban planning and follow-on architectural projects for a 564-acre redevelopment plan for Downtown El Cajon.

Our team’s commitment to social equity, sustainability and human-benefit technology and innovation unites our project and program services.
